‘No Need To Panick, We Are Ready To Handle Any Medical Emergency’: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Following Covid-19 Alert by Modi Govt

As of now no BF.7 variant of Covid-19 virus has been detected in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday, asking people in the national capital not to get panicked.
This came after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government at the Centre sounding an alert in view of the spread of the virus in neighbouring China and other parts of the world, asking the states to start testing and take other measures necessary to prevent spread of the virus in the country.
Addressing a press conference here, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal said only XBB and it’s variants have so far been detected in a few cases during testing of the samples in the national capital.
“Not a single case of BF.7 variant have been detected in Delhi so far. There is no need to get panicked. God forbid if there is any spread by chance, we are ready to handle the situation,” Kejriwal told reporters.
Assuring people of his government’s preparedness to meet any eventuality in case of any spread of the virus in the national capital, Delhi chief minister said while “we are carrying out genenome sequencing, our capacity to conduct Covid-19 tests has increased to one lakh per day,”
As many as eight lakh beds have been kept ready for the patients in case there is any spread of the virus, Kejriwal said
“In case of peak, we can ready 36000 more beds with all the necessary facilities for the patients,” he asserted.
Recalling how people ran helter skelter with Covid infected family members for oxygen in the national capital during this the second wave of the pandemic, the chief minister said there was no need to worry this time as Delhi’s storage capacity for the life saving gas has incrased to 928 MT tonnes, enough to meet the requirements Eve at the time of peak .
As many as 6000 extra empty cylinders empty have also been kept in reserves besides those available in the hospitals, he said.
Last time there was a problem in brining oxygen from other states to meet the requirements in the national capital due to lack of tankers, he recalled.
“I assure you that there is no need to worry this time. We have 15 tankers available today to bring oxygen from other states in case of any such need,” he added.
Kejriwal said almost all residents of Delhi have been double vaccinated but the percentage of those having taken “precaution dosees” of the anti-covid vaccines in the national capital is just 24 percent.
“People have not take precaution doses even when officials visiting their homes requesting for it. I urge people with folded hands to please take precaution doses,” he said, adding “I have asked officials to start door to door visit for this.”
