AAP Postpones All Rallies, Meetings In Poll-bound UP With Spike In Covid-19 Cases; Decides To Connect With People On Cyberspace

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has postponed all of its political rallies and meetings scheduled to be held in poll-bound Pradesh in view of a spike in the Covid-19 cases.

In a video message in Hindi, AAP MP and in-charge of party’s political affairs announced the decision on Thursday.

“More than 90,000 cases have been reported in one day and more than 534 people have died due to covid. Hence, all election rallies and meeting have been postponed due to this,” he said.

The party will now organise virtual events to connect with the people in the state, he said, appealing people to join him on the upcoming event through Twitter, Facebook, Instagaram, YouTube and other social media platforms.

The Uttar Pradesh Unit of the AAP had plans to take out election rallies in Varanasi, Sahibabad and Western Uttar Pradesh on January 8, January 9 and January 10 respectively, he said.

“These rallies have been postponed,” he said.

In his message to people of the state, the AAP leader said while physical events have been postponed due to rise in Covid-19 cases cases, the state unit of his party will organise events online party and “to talk about Covid and various issues in Uttar Pradesh”

“Now I will connect with you virtually. You do not need to come out of your home and assemble at any place. While sitting at home, join me in a rally scheduled to be held (virtually) on January 8 in Varanasi,” he said. “Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Zoom, YouTube—through all these mediums you can connect with me while sitting at home. I will talk about Covid and all issues of Uttar Pradesh with you,” he added.
