Agents Of Change: Stefanini, Our MITTI Foundation Adopt Noida School To Shape Up Poverty-Stricken Children’s Future
Nine-year-old Alisha is looking forward to laying her hands on a computer for the first time and charting her career path into the world of information technology created by the binary numbers–0 and 1.
She is excited and unwilling to look for anything else as she will soon have a keyboard in hands to punch in her codes to turn her dreams into reality.
And, equally excited are other children of the Radha Ballabh Public School, located in Sector-45 of Noida since Stefanini, a multi-national IT solutions firm, adopted the school to give wings to the dreams of its students.
The global IT solutions company will help set up a state-of-art science and technology laboratory and develop other infrastructures in the the school.
It will also provide support required to run smart classes in the schools for the benefit of students and empower its teachers with training to equip them with required teaching skills.
Thanks to the Our MITTI Foundation, a non-profit organization, set up by entrepreneurs and philanthropists Pramod Kumar Suman and Chandan Kumar to bring change in Indian society through education as well as promote and preserve the cultural and traditional identities of the country.
“I am so excited to see the computers and lay my hands on it,” she Alisha said, “I will first develop a gaming app once I learn coding from the teachers.
Another student of the school said, “With setting up of the lab, we can actually learn by doing what we just read in our textbooks and memorised for exams until so far.”
“I want to become a data scientist.” he added.
All the children, enrolled in the Radha Ballabh Public School from kindergarten to class 10 standards, come from extremely poor family backgrounds. Their parents, living in slums, are daily wage earners and migrants from far off locations in socio-economically backward States in India like Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.
To formalise the process of adoption, Stefanini’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) David Gawenda visited the school in Sadarpur, Noida on September 28. He was accompanied by Stefanini’s Director Greg Cothran from the United States of America (USA).
On the occasion, the Company’s Director India Operation Ruchir Gaur, another director Jatin Joshi and Senior Manager (Human Resource) Shradha also joined Gawenda in the noble cause.
The Our MIITTI Foundation’s chairman Pramod Kumar Suman, president Chandan Kumar, vice president Sangita Bhagat and General Secretary Ravi Verma welcomed the Stefanini’s top officials and accompanied them the school.
Gawenda and other delegates said they were very excited to be a part of this “noble cause” and assured Radha Ballabh Public School and the Our MITTI Foundation of helping develop a good infrastructure, Smart Classes and IT Lab for the school.
“Most of the students of the school belong to underprivileged and economically weaker sections of the society. Development of a good infrastructure, smart classes and IT Lab will motivate the students to study hard and become a better citizen,” the school’s principal Sushil said.
Stefanini has come forward to support this initiative “Adopt a School” by Our MITTI Foundation, showing its commitment and human approach towards the mission of making quality education available to all in India.
While India is home to tens and thousands of schools, a large number of children in the country do not have access to quality education. Schools providing high quality education are inaccessible to them due to their higher fees and other charges.
“We believe in the idea–give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Education is one such tool to empower every section of society,” Our MITTI Foundation president Chandan Kumar said.
